Ayurveda requires you to be an active participant in your own journey towards healing and balance. You will learn your own personal relationship with the elements: ether (space), air, fire, water, earth. Together the elements form three doshas that embody qualities of the the energetic forces of the combined elements:
You are made up of all of these elements in some unique combination known as your Constitution or prakriti, i.e. your birth state. When you fall away from your balanced state or prakriti, this is known as your vikriti. Understanding the balance of the elements and how they impact you is the key to maintaining physical and mental balance and therefore health.
